No Regrets!

Live your life in such a way that when your working days are over, you won’t look back and say “I wish I had…” Work hard at all the right things.

Spend time on the things that matter most

Robert Redford once said “I have no regrets, because I’ve done everything I could to the best of my ability.” What does that mean? Honestly, there are different things people may regret in life, but none of them matter quite as much as working for the greater good.

Why didn’t I help that person when they needed me?

Why didn’t I go a step further and do good for someone else?

Why did I only think of myself?

These are the kinds of questions that build some of the strongest regrets.

So many times, if you read business advice, you will be told the same thing over and over again: if you want to be successful, you have to be shrewd. Plenty of people fully believe they must step on others in order to climb the ladder to success. That’s absolutely not true and it definitely is a way to build up regrets you will not be able to rectify.

Repeat this simple phrase: People matter more. Say it to yourself with each business decision you make. Whenever you need to do something, ask how you will be changing someone’s life for the better.

It all sounds kind of opposite of what you have been told for business success, doesn’t it? Here’s something to remember: everything, and I mean everything, that you make in this world is fleeting. The cars, the houses, the money, the fine china…all of that will end up thrown away, forgotten, or behind glass somewhere after an archeological dig. You can’t take it with you, but what you can take with you is the knowledge that you helped others. And it really is possible for you to do this with your business.

Here’s a little secret too. When you show that your company cares and puts people first, you may be surprised at how fast it builds up whether you are local to Dallas and Fort Worth or you have an online company. Do you know why? People are much more likely to do business with a company that cares.

Remember all of this when you set about presenting an image of your business to others. This is why we like professional video so much here at House of Sticks. We know that through storytelling video, you can convey what your business really is about. We can help you with every aspect of your business from website development and design to video production to development of smart phone apps. We will help you show dedication to what matters the most: people. So, it is time to ask yourself: do you want to live your life for money that is fleeting or do you want to live your life helping others?

There is a good book called the “Go-giver” by Bob Burg. Although the book focuses on business characteristics that will get you to the point of success, the concepts are true for life in general… Hint: Mr. Burg wasn’t the first to come up with this.
