Good leaders, can make a the difference in failure and success, and in overall enjoyment.

Lead well and press into people

As a business owner, you are a leader even if you don’t realize it. You don’t have a choice in this. What you do have a choice in is what type of leader you are. You could be the cocky, arrogant leader who just tries to tell everyone what to do. And, you probably won’t be very well liked or followed. Alternatively, you can be a servant leader, or someone who leads other by serving.

According to Changing Minds, “The servant lead serves others, rather than others serving the leader. Serving others thus comes by helping them to achieve and improve.” So the father you climb to ladder, the more you need to spend time at the bottom. Your role as a leader effects more than just the work life of a person. Make it a great experience all the way around. Remember the best things in life are never easy.

If you want people to follow, be the type of person you would want to follow. Case and point, don’t be a jerk.

Why does this matter so much? Think of some of the leaders you see around you. Which ones get the best attention? We may love people like Floyd Mayweather, but we surely don’t want to be like him because he has no humility. Then, look at someone like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He had a humble attitude toward leadership. And, which of these two men will be remembered hundreds of years from now? Which do you think will have an impact on generations in the future?

We both know the answer.

This type of leadership can be very powerful when you own a business. Here are some tips on how to implement it:

  • Remember why people follow others and work on presenting the same image.
  • When you inspire someone else, they will follow you.
  • It doesn’t just pay to be good at what you do. You must care and learn how to use what you do to help others.
  • Humility takes much greater strides toward your goals than arrogance will.

When you are the right kind of leader, you can make a difference, not just for your business, but also for others.
